"We've all grown and learned and had a chance to see lights and different perspectives for sure," Williams said. That doesn't even cover the team's brief discussions about trading for Kevin Durant, which never progressed, and the team's disastrous Game 7 home loss to the Dallas Mavericks last May that started what turned out to be a largely unpleasant offseason. In the first 90 minutes of interviews, the only time a smile was cracked was when Booker made a joke about being on the cover of the NBA 2K video game. The team is also returning the core of the roster than won a league-best 64 games last season, and there is now clarity that Sarver will no longer be a distraction.īut there was no positivity following from those moves. "I don't want to take any steps back."ĭuring the offseason, Jones and Williams both signed extensions to remain with the franchise long term. "I just let my agents handle it and I trusted my team," the usually jovial Ayton said flatly. It ended a yearlong period of tense talks between Ayton and the Suns over his future, and there seemed to be some scars. There was also the complete lack of enthusiasm emanating from Deandre Ayton, who signed a four-year, $133 million offer sheet with the Indiana Pacers that the Suns quickly matched. ![]() I totally am behind James and how we are handling this." "At the same time these things happen and you have to transition and move forward. "Jae brought a number of intangibles to the team, I think all of our guys would speak in that way about him," Williams said. But it seems clear his time with the team is over. The Suns had discussions about it throughout the summer but hadn't found a deal yet. Crowder was informed over the summer that he may lose his starting job this season, sources said, and it prompted him to request a trade. Veteran forward Jae Crowder asked not to come to training camp, and the Suns announced they'd granted the request Sunday. It was only one of the issues that was pulling at the team's mojo from last year's 64-win season, which had been reduced to a footnote. Paul said he'd been in contact regularly with NBA commissioner Adam Silver before and after the ruling was announced. Jones said he had not been in contact with Sarver, which follows the NBA's punishment that banned from the team for a year. And when you read the report, you read the bullet points and you see it over and over again in that way, it bothers you." "And when I saw the report, I was not happy about it, quite frankly, disgusted. I learned how demeaning it was toward humanity, not just black folks," Williams said. Especially when I was younger and I learned what that word meant. The report's confirmation of Sarver's repeated use of the N-word, which was brought to light by an ESPN investigation released last year, seemed to strike the strongest chord. Why Robert Sarver's eventual sale doesn't necessarily mean the NBA's problem is solved.I understand everybody's personal experience with other people are always going to be different." Editor's Picks "But at the same time, I'm not insensitive to everybody that's involved in the situation. "That's tough for me because that's not the Robert Sarver that I know, it's not the Robert that welcomed me to Phoenix with open arms," said Devin Booker, the longest-tenured Suns player, who is starting his eighth season. "It was more so also the things that people have to endure in the workplace." "It was tough, just like anybody, reading all the different things," star guard Chris Paul said. "You don't want that around the organization. "I would say just a state of shock," general manager James Jones said. And until we create a time machine, we won’t be seeing any travelers any time soon. This is one restriction that puts pay to those romantic ideas that we could travel back in time to see the dinosaurs there were no time machines back then (that we know of), so nothing to travel back to. The universe’s very first time traveller would therefore only be able to travel back to when the machine he/she was using was built. If you could travel back in time, where would you go? Actually it’s a trick question: you couldn’t travel back in time unless there was a time “machine” already built in the past. Not only could the LHC generate enough energy to create particles that exist in other dimensions, it may also produce “ unparticles“, a possible source for dark matter. "Similar concerns were raised before the LHC began running in Europe and time has proven its safety," he said.As we get closer to the grand opening of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) near Geneva, Switzerland, it seems the predictions as to what we might get from the high energy particle accelerator are becoming more complex and outlandish. "Powerful cosmic rays and nuclei clash daily on Earth at forces a million times stronger than those created in any lab." It was "groundless and with no scientific basis" to speculate that a collider could create a black hole that puts lives at risk, Wang said. The Swiss project near Geneva is the world's largest and most powerful particle collider and reportedly the largest machine in the world.įears have also mounted over the development of the huge collider. The collider will provide light at a million electron-volt power level, creating the most advanced conditions for research on new materials and nuclear physics, Wang explained. Right now there are three invitees already decided. Then for fun, I'm going to share a number of my favorite Magic Invitational moments. Which brings us to Magic Invitational #10.įor today, I thought I would let you in on how this year's voting is going to work. Over time, the event grew and grew until it became one of the premiere events of the year. And on and on until we hit every continent not covered with glaciers. The little promotional event had a lucky break and we found ourselves in Hong Kong. And nothing felt more like a sport to me than an all-star game. If you want people to perceive you as a sport, I felt, act like a sport. It was left up to me to design the event and I always fancied the idea of Magic having an all-star game. The Invitational (originally called the Duelist Invitational) was started as an event to hype in the magazine ( The Duelist was a Wizards of the Coast published magazine about Magic). For those that remember it or just don't want to bother, here's the quick summary. If you want the full rundown on the history of the Invitational, I wrote a rather lengthy feature article (All-Star Studded”) several years ago that you can see here. So the fact that one of these two items is turning ten (and I have no doubt that will get there soon enough) makes me feel ancient. Ten! You see, while I've had my hands in all sorts of Magic behind-the-scenes type things, I've been instrumental in creating only two Magic institutions – (where I share credit with numerous other people) and the Magic Invitational (which I pretty much did by myself). You heard me, Magic's all-star game turns ten. Why do I bring this up? Because I'm here to announce the beginning of voting for the Tenth Annual Magic Invitational. Nothing makes you feel older than watching your children hit milestones. I just want my son.Dark Confidant In September of last year, my eldest (Rachel) began attending kindergarten. The displays themselves are identical on both models, so there’s not much to discuss there. The HD 10 Plus is the same when it comes to size but has a significant upgrade: It gets a “soft touch” finish designed to feel more comfortable on your fingers. If you have used one of the previous Fire HD 10 models, the new version will feel very familiar to you with its 10.1-inch HD touchscreen, 16.5-ounce weight, and general portability - it’s an average-sized tablet made to be used in landscape mode. Winner: Fire HD 10 Plus Design, display, and durability While the Plus is a little large for some wireless chargers, it’s a handy feature that means you don’t have to depend on a cable charger again. The Fire HD 10 offers a significant upgrade with an octa-core processor that now sports 3GB of RAM, leading to a significant and welcome speed boost. You could try it for a more depth feeling.
